Catherine Ford is a British actress born in Bloomsbury. When her father's departure from the household, the actress was grew up by her mother, godparents and grandmother. Ford was suffering from anxiety disorder caused by word associations as a young teenager. Ford's love for acting grew in her early years. She joined in the National Youth Theatre. After being accepted into the Sylvia Young Theatre School for brief time, Ford decided that this was not the best place for her. Ford made an application to the Central School of Speech and Drama and eventually secured the position she wanted on her third try. A classmate of hers was Shaun Dingwall, who would be later reprise her role in the role of Pete Tyler in Doctor Who. Ford earned her bachelor's degree in 1993. However, prior to that, Ford made a television debut as a character in Surgical Spirit in an episode from 1990. Ford took the professional name of Catherine Tate. Tate appeared on TV in the Nineties in shows like The Bill and Men Behaving Badly. Alongside her usual theatre work, Tate joined the Royal Shakespeare Company in 2000-2001. Tate gained recognition for her comedy stand-up, which has been added to her repertoire in 1996.
